MacBook Air? The newest toy from Apple… how’s it a production worthy machine?
Written by Siotha on January 16, 2008 – 5:29 pm -I’m sorry.. but I don’t get how an ultra portable laptop is a production worthy machine… Do You? Here is the short list of my concerns….
- 1 USB Port…. um.. last I checked, my iPhone hogs the USB 2 ports, and doesn’t powe/sync if on a hub between my one good port as it is!
- Got Mac headphones? What is this – everything else is wireless – why not the headphones!
- Proprietary output for additional monitors.. Nice.. There goes another $20!
- No Ethernet port… Not all of my clients are that savvy… and for security and my sanity I don’t even use wireless at the office!
- Have you priced a Wireless N router lately, $200 more please
- No disk drive… I’m torn… because last I checked my IT guy wouldn’t let me network into the PC next to me.
- Thin… This is the only thing appealing…… it’s thin!! but will it stand up to Siotha chaos?
- Who uses an itty bitty tiny weeny screen to actually produce videos or high end commercial work? um… you should see my desk… but i have to have all the monitor real estate possible… including a huge monitor to go with my laptop…
So it makes me wonder is this machine anything more than a glorified internet surfing station? If so, why upgrade, I already have 2 macs that are only usable for that as they are soooooo old?!
One of my friends said, that’s what I thought my Iphone was for!
What are you thoughts? Are you actually able to run more than just one high end software and get work done on yours? Or are you just watching videos on you tube?
